350.org is looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about fossil fuel divestment, movement building and digital organising to support the Fossil Free Europe network with digital tools and communications work in the run up to a global divestment mobilisation moment in May 2017. This is a short term contract for part-time work beginning ideally December until end-May.

Our online campaigns, grassroots offline organising, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organisers in over 188 countries. 350.org works hard to organize in a new way—everywhere at once, using online tools to facilitate strategic offline action. About the Europe Divestment Digital Organiser role
This is a temporary role to provide additional digital and communications support to 350.org’s Europe Team in organising and promoting a major divestment mobilisation in May 2017 by the European fossil fuel divestment network.
You will be helping to develop content for websites, blogs and campaign action pages; writing emails to engage and support the divestment network in the run-up to May; creating and curating content for social media in the 350 ‘voice’; and providing administrative support to our team’s Digital and Communications staff. We are looking for an excellent and fast English-language writer, ideally with experience of divestment organising and using online campaign platforms. We work in English, French, German, Dutch and Swedish so some experience with international organising will also be beneficial.
This role will involve:
- Helping to produce and moderate petitions, action pages and other materials using ActionKit, Wordpress and ControlShiftLabs.
- Writing, editing and sending segmented emails to our supporter lists in Europe
- Writing and editing content such as blogs, webpages and action guides for our website.
- Producing or sourcing simple graphics, visuals and videos for social media use.
- Coordinating translation of content with our Translations team
- Providing advice and digital support to the divestment network in planning for a coordinated divestment mobilisation.
- Administrative tasks such as monitoring social media & media coverage, handling email responses, curating photos into albums
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 2 years digital organising and campaigning experience - whether as part of non-governmental organisations, grassroots networks, or other groups
- Excellent and rapid written English communication skills
- Ability to communicate relatively complex stories in a simple and easy to understand way, and to build/strengthen narratives
- Strategic thinking and knowledge of digital tools and social media
- Experience producing regular online content and developing new resources
- A good eye for graphic design and working knowledge of graphics packages like Photoshop.
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences
- Familiarity with some or all of the digital tools used by 350.org (ActionKit, ControlShiftLabs, Wordpress, Slack, Buffer, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Storify, Animoto)
- Additional European languages as well as English
- Basic video production and editing skills
- An understanding of the European media landscape
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced online collaborative environment and under time pressure. You will be comfortable working both independently and with a remote team; able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
Position Type: Part-time, equivalent to 1 day a week until end March, increasing to 2+ days a week in April & May.

Compensation: competitive compensation based on experience
